How should I store my air compressor?

Consequently, should you store an air compressor empty?
Yes, definitely drain it after each use. Need to avoid letting water pool in the tank, possibly corroding and weakening it. Release the air and open the drain valve for a while to let out any condensation. I always drain my compressor when finished, mainly to blow out any moisture that could have built up inside.
can I leave my air compressor on all the time? No, and just for the reasons you posted about I have a large vertical tank compressor which I leave on all the time But, I always shut the air off at the tank so there is no pressure in the feed lines. I have done this for about 20 or so years without any problems what so ever.
Also to know is, how often should I drain my air compressor?
There is no need to drain your tank at every single use, however, we recommend that your tank be drained once every couple of days if it's used daily. If you drain it once a week, you should be doing everything that is needed to prevent major rust.
Can you store an air compressor in the cold?
Storing it in the cold should be fine. Drain any water before you store it. You can also use synthetic motor oil in your compressor if you plan to run it in cold weather.
